The Deck

Descend from the Library to the low deck, following the lantern-lit pathway. From this ledge where the evening camp fire blazes, you have an excellent view of the waterhole and the stars. Many warm evenings have been whiled away here in canvas safari chairs...

“Another time, we hosted the biggest single family we’ve ever had - there were 16 of them, three generations I think, from the USA. It was Christmas time and they were so happy. I remember them talking in the firelight one evening, down on the deck looking out over the water-hole. The grandfather was telling his grandchildren, ‘This has been my dream for 20 years, to bring us all here together on safari in Kenya’. He was mzee (an old man), maybe 80 years old. He said he felt he had achieved what he has always wanted to do in his lifetime. That was very special.” Josephat, Waiter, Ol Seki
