Blessing

While we can’t offer full-blown weddings at Ol Seki, we can organise a special blessing for the married couple. The local tribal priest presides over a traditional Masai ceremony in which your marriage is consecrated through ancient rites. This open air spectacle is colourful and joyful; traditional tribal songs herald the union of the couple robed in bright Masai shukas (woollen blankets).

“It was so special - the couple were given new names, Masai names, and their feet were washed in home-brewed honey-wine beer. They were so surprised and delighted when they saw a parade of young moran (Masai warriors) coming out of the bush in their full regalia, singing to them. They then performed the ceremony of stepping over the laid down branches of the Leleshwa tree - its name means peace in Ma.” Melinda, Manager, Ol Seki
